Att: WEA Members
THE 2008 WEA TRAVEL/STUDY AWARD IS NOW OPEN FOR APPLICATION
The award aims to encourage members to see, do and learn things they might not otherwise have the opportunity to. Have you ever wanted to see the factories of some of the suppliers and manufacturers you deal with? Have you ever wanted to see the operation of wineries or bottling plants in France, Chile or New Zealand? Have you ever been to a big international oenological exhibition such as Intervitis/Interfructa or Simei? These experiences enrich your understanding of the wine industry. They give you new ideas, perspective and contrast. However they are often out of reach for those involved in the projects and maintenance.
A typical and real life example is a winery electrician who finally went to Italy to meet a supplier's bottling engineer he'd been troubleshooting with over the phone for 20 years! It was also the first time he had ventured overseas. This person would have qualified for the award and maybe could have gone sooner. Does this sound like you? Then use this award.
The sucessful applicant will receive cash to the value of $3,000.00 with the award only open to full members of the WEA. Past winners include Peter Graue and Ken Johnson from Yalumba Wines, Gary McKernan of Montana Wines (NZ) and Chris Ripper then at McWilliams Wines.
I am extremely approachable - talk to me about what you're thinking of.
Or send in a preliminary application and I'll ring you! Please review the award conditions (click here) and fill in an application form (click here). Forward these to myself:
